Many people who own day nurseries start out with a story about their own search for childcare and how their disappointment of what was on offer inspired them. It wasn’t like that for me.
When I started out with the first Little Cherubs Day Nursery in 2005 I didn’t have children of my own. But I knew I wanted my nursery to be a place where I would want my children to go. I wanted to create an environment where we cared for children as if they were our own, in a home from home setting. But not just that, I wanted it to be a place where staff loved their job. I wanted it to be great place to be.
So we started out with Little Cherubs Day Nursery in Wallasey. It was a small 15 place nursery and we were soon turning parents and children away so took on the task and expanded the nursery to provide 30 places. In December 2008 we added a 35 place nursery to the Little Cherubs Group.
Again we expanded the nursery but this time so that we could offer places to babies and toddlers. During this time there have been many changes to childcare with a strong emphasis on increasing quality. We encourage and expect our staff to continually develop their skills through their Personal Professional Development Programmes.
It’s important that we are always learning and keeping up to date with changes in practice and new techniques.
